My boys and I just got our H1N1 vaccinations. I will let you all know how I feel on it in a few days. I have never even had a real flu shot so this is new to me. I will be getting that too this year.

| I had the shot. It would be over my dead body before they squirted live virus up my nose. I have asthma also so I wouldn't have been allowed to have the spray but wouldn't have done it either way. I made sure my boys also got the shot. I went 72 hours and felt nothing different from the shot. Both my boys were fine with it also. No side effects for us. |

How did you get the HlN1 shot? We don't have it in the KC area yet, and when we do get it, first responders and medical responders will get it first, then small children, etc.
Don't forget the pneumovax shot if you are prone to pneumonia. Check with your doc. re. this, however. |

I definitely want to get the pneumonia shot but am terrified to go to the dr office right now. Here they are flooded with H1N1 cases. Literally 30 hacking people in a waiting room at every drs office. Walkin clinics have people waiting in their cars because there is no room inside. My brother went for an allergic reaction and the dr asked him if he was sick and he said no and she said you will be now with absolute seriousness.
In Iowa they started out being administered for high risk categories and it was first come first serve. Waited in line for 2 hours outside in the cold. They did children, people with conditions such as asthma or heart disease, pregnant women, infant caregivers and health care workers. They are doing it through our county health departments. |

Here in Toledo the health dpt. has the H1N1 shots and nasel spray and is also only giving it to Medical personal and children first. I think starting next week they are going to start giving it to high risk patents and pregnate women.
I have personally decided not to get it. _________________ Heather

MY oppinion (and its the one I've had from the first time its been mentioned)
Its a very mild bug and I think Mrs Roy, most of my family, and I have had it recently.
Hyped up by the media because it has a "catchy" name.
OMG if they called it the "Obama" flu we would be shooting anyone who had a snotty nose!!
For us it was no worse than a bad cold.
1-2 day in bed, 5 days coughing, NO meds apart from over the counter painkillers.
Next year it will probably be called the Afgan flu
No problem to start with because the Russians get it first
They get rid of it.
Then we get it in a mild sort of way.
Then it comes back and bites us in the ASS. (we say arse)
H1N1 is less deadly to UK (average) people than the Afgan conflict!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Definatley less deadly than C.diff.
Roy

I'm not getting this shot. First, I'm not in the target group of "most in danger." I have no underlying conditions (well the ones they indicate, asthma/diabetes etc) I'm over the age cap/under the age cap, I think it's birth to 24 years old (I'm 27) and those over 60 right? So I wouldn't be entitled to a shot until Jan/Feb anyway.
On top of that, knock on wood, I've never even had the regular flu in my life. |
